HLS IIW Workstation
EBS has developed a dual processor workstation to meet the demands of the Scientific, Engineering, Financial and Digital Content Creation communities for a high performance graphical workstation capable of running compute intensive applications. Based on AMD OpteronTM 64-bit technology, the workstation delivers unprecedented price performance advantages. Starting at under $3000 for a two processor configuration, the workstation is house in a brushed aluminum case and engineered to be extremely quiet, making it ideal for office environments.
The workstation is certified to run the Solaris Operating System x86 platform edition through the Sun Microsystems Hardware Certification Test Suite (HCTS) Version 2.3, and is listed on the Solaris Hardware Compatibility List. It is also capable of running the Linux and Windows operating systems. The Workstation is available in two standard software configurations:
- With the Solaris 9 Operating System, x86 Platform Edition, Star Office and the Sun ONE Studio suite of development tools for Java, C, C++ and FORTRAN
- With Sun's Java Desktop System, a Linux-based desktop solution that integrates client desktop, system administration tools and developer tools
